Publisher’s Note: Great Dane is trying to protect its company and local jobs. They transport products to and from companies in the CSRA. Recently, Congressman Rick Allen took action to protect Great Dane and others in the trailer industry. The following is a letter from Great Dane, a Statesboro-based transporter.
The trailer industry plays a central role in transporting everyday items like food, medication, and other essential products to citizens across the country. More than 10,000 Americans work in this industry, which supports an additional 50,000 jobs in the freight and logistics industries. However, despite their hard work and integrity, U.S. trailer producers have had to compete with unfairly underpriced foreign trailer imports for decades.
The U.S. Department of Commerce recently stepped in to address foreign countries’ evasion of proper duties and defend American manufacturing. Last month, U.S. Representative Rick Allen supported this effort by writing to the International Trade Commission.

“America’s manufacturers are not asking for special treatment. They are simply asking for the opportunity to compete on fair terms,” Allen said. “When competition is fair, American companies can innovate, invest, grow, and continue supporting good-paying jobs in communities across our country.”
The recent actions by the U.S. Department of Commerce and support from leaders like Rep. Allen mark a critical step toward supporting the American workforce. Home to hundreds of manufacturing jobs, Georgia-founded trailer producer Great Dane is thankful for Rep. Allen’s testimony before the ITC and his contributions to preserving trade integrity.
We applaud Rep. Allen for his commitment to the American trailer industry and look forward to a future of fair competition for all of our nation’s manufacturers.
Sincerely,
