Hi-Tech Power Systems, Inc has been catching its collective breath since the Fall of 2024 through their 40th Anniversary in the Summer of 2026.
“The hurricane was quite the experience. We thought the ice storm of 2014 was bad, but it was nothing compared to Helene, “ said President Beverly Whiteside. Our office had damage as well as some of our employees’ homes, so our access was limited, but our employees stepped up and did what they could for our customers.”

Team members started with life safety matters first, then reached all others possible.
“We had one tech that was basically at the Augusta Regional Airport daily, making sure their generators were running and flights were able to proceed. “
Ms. Whiteside is carrying on the family-owned tradition of her father, Jack Rabun, who founded Hi-Tech Power Systems, Inc. in 1986. She’s been at the 2479 Doug Barnard Parkway office since day one.
Hi-Tech sells Kohler, Generac, and Winco generators and can repair any generator on the market, whether it is a portable, home standby, or an industrial unit.
“Our techs are on call 24 hours a day. Our sales team provides free in-home estimates for anyone considering a generator for their residence. We offer annual maintenance, warranty, and repair support after the sale. We also provide load bank testing on generators. We have the most trained technicians on staff in the CSRA”, added Whiteside.
There is also a second location in North Augusta, SC. The focus there is on tractor-trailer and tanker repairs. Hi-Tech does basic oil changes, DOT’s, brake jobs to alignments, and tanker vapor testing.
In light of Hurricane Helene, Whiteside has a few pieces of advice for ABD readers:
*Be patient—“There were many people afterwards reaching out for home standby installs, and not everyone understood that a quick, fast install does not mean it’s a proper quality installation.
There is a process for that.
It involves home inspections, electrical wiring installation, gas piping installation, and finally, it must pass inspection from the county inspection office.
*Plan Ahead—”We also were inundated with portable generator repairs. So many went to use their generator during the storm, but it would not work.
People do not realize they need to run their generator at least monthly to exercise it and keep fresh fuel in it.
