Incorporating health and fitness on the job

This is part of the Aiken Innovation Corridor, which the chamber announced in August 2025. This is part 3 of a 7-part series on the entrepreneurs vying for a share of $500,000 in venture capital.

Augusta, Ga is probably the ideal location for a company whose founder is connected to the golf community.

Mikro Move, LLC is the latest foray by Hetal Acharekar into programs for wellness and longevity. She is also part of Tee It Up Ladies and the physical therapy practice, Performance Above, LLC.

With this new venture, Acharekar wants to expand into overall health and wellness.

“Mikro Move is a health and wellness app focused on small to medium-sized companies,” she explained for ABD. “People mostly come during the workday, get fatigued, burn out because of long hours focused on their jobs, whether it’s sitting for a long time or lifting for a long time or doing the same work over and over, which causes mental and physical fatigue.”

The secret to Mikro Move is its approach to time management.

“Mikro Move is five to seven minutes of bite-sized movement snacks throughout the day,” she said. “You can actually break out of your routine, which gives you a break, which ends physical fatigue and burnout over time through disengagement.”

Acharekar has been a physical therapist for 15 years. With her experience through her other activities, she understands funding from the Magnate Angel Group is just a first step to getting Mikro Move off the ground. The group has committed $500,000 to the program.

“The seed money helps me progress or organize my business to go from one step to the other with the mentorship help,” she said. “I think that’s where the seed money is more helpful because it’s already research-based, because they’ve done it for so long, they know exactly how things work. So, I think that has helped me organize and move from one step to the other.”

What she sees as perhaps an even larger advantage is being part of a cohort. Individuals with separate ideas but facing many of the same challenges.

“I think as a startup, and as a solo entrepreneur, your life is a little bit more lonely, and I think having others, you almost have kind of like an outside family,” she said. “We help each other figure out how we can solve each other’s stresses and strains. I think when you start in your business, you have invested a lot of money, and sometimes you are afraid because you may lose it, or you might not make it, but the point is, when we have other people who are in a similar thought process, and we can talk it out, our problems and our solutions, we can think of better solutions.”

I was at an economic conference in Denver two weeks ago and went to a session on the minimum wage (so you don’t have to!).
