Publisher’s Note: ABD received the Thursday morning edition of Jones Creek News and is publishing it in its entirety. It was provided by Tripp Nanney of the Jones Creek HOA. The golf course has been closed since September 2018 due to an unresolved lawsuit against Columbia County, concerning stormwater runoff that flooded parts of the course. Bond Global of Aiken developed a relationship with Jones Creek and opened a driving range in April 2023. This relationship is continuing in a big way.
Tripp’s Tidbits – Jones Creek Golf Course Update
Bond Golf Global has reached an agreement to renovate and reopen the Jones Creek Golf Course. Their target date to open will be August 2025.
Here are some of the steps associated with their project:
- Continue to clear playing surfaces throughout the entire property.
- Replace the current Willow Lake dam with a new version.
- Increase the actual dam length from 25 feet to 80 feet.
- Lower the dam height to provide better water flow and more control of the water height.
- Work on the pump house and irrigation system.
- Convert bunkers to eco-bunkers with new linings.
- Putting greens will be TifEagle surfaces and fairways will be Bermuda grass.
- Some cart path repairs will be done and additional trees will be removed.
- Enlarge, shape, and repave the parking lot at the Practice Club area.
- Repair the current practice area roofs and add more area for cart storage.
- Putting greens will be planted next year, after the irrigation system is repaired.
Jones Creek was originally designed by Rees Jones and redone by Tom Fazio, so the golf course design will not be changed.
Once open, there will be membership opportunities, but the course will be open for public play on a daily basis.
We will continue to see maintenance vehicles and other construction traffic on the golf course property, so please respect the work they are trying to do. Remember, the course land is private property and the bridges are unsafe and not suitable for golf carts and individual personal traffic.
They have asked that we refrain from using the golf course property and support their efforts as their work continues.
More information to follow as the work starts and details become available.
Thanks,
Tripp Nanney
