Neighborhood Tavern Opens in Evans

No joke! Towne Center Tavern opened on April Fool’s Day. No pranks were pulled, but some tasty food was served. The new eatery is located at 7025 Town Center Boulevard in Evans on the second floor of the Meybohm building.

Owners Shawn and Katy Ledford aren’t new to the food service business. They own three Mellow Mushroom franchises in the CSRA. The first opened in Augusta in 2003, and two more were added in Evans and Augusta.

The Ledford’s first Mellow Mushroom location moved from 1167 Broad Street to 1102 Broad Street in downtown Augusta.

“We were just going around and eating out in the Evans area and felt like something was missing, like the area was starving for something different. The option we came up with was a neighborhood tavern,” explained Shawn Ledford.

In the first two weeks after opening, Towne Center Tavern only served dinner, but lunch has been added since then.

“It’s exciting that our restaurant has been well-received and that our social media reviews have been positive.”

Local photographer Addie Strozier and her husband Brad ate lunch there recently and enjoyed the view, the food, and the cocktails.

Ledford says they have already begun to see repeat customers.

Kids can be picky eaters, so when this Towne Center Tavern customer gave his food two thumbs up, it was a good sign for a family-friendly restaurant.

“Our appetizers, Cubano sandwiches, and Meatloaf Dip sandwiches have become popular in a short time. The biggest challenge has been keeping up with inventory based on the demand.”

Ledford is not ruling out expanding the business in the future, but for now, invites foodies and their families to check out the menu and enjoy events on the TVs and video wall.

Towne Center Tavern is open Tuesday through Sunday. You can follow them on Facebook here or check out their website, which is being expanded as the business grows.
