Local and national businesses support upcoming Marine Mud Run

What’s a little mud to a Marine? Not much. You don’t have to be a Marine to run and get muddy.

The 2023 Marine Mud Challenge, presented by Grunt Style, is coming up this weekend. The competitive and non-competitive challenging 4-mile, off-road course offers more than 30 obstacles, a stream crossing, hills, and lots of mud!

The competitive categories are reserved for athletes legitimately in it to win it, who can run the entire course and complete every obstacle. Competitive runners will register individually. Every runner will be timed using electronic timing and must be 13 years of age or older to participate. However, this requirement can be waived with parent/guardian approval.

“The event is supported by a wide variety of sponsors including Fleet Feet, Coke, Dominos, Panera, and Club Car. We appreciate the amount of support from the business community for the event,” said Cathy Shaw with the Support Services Division for MWR at Fort Gordon.

The Marines use the money from sponsorship to help with their annual ball. It’s likely that this year’s event will take place at SRP Park which would put money back into the community.

Volunteers for the Marine Mud Run to be held on Saturday, September 16, are needed. If you are interested in volunteering, please register using the volunteer option and select the option you are interested in assisting with and the times you’re available.
