Because of its efforts to provide equitable health care for uninsured and underserved patients in the CSRA, Christ Community Health has received a $50,000 grant.
Christ Community has been named this year’s Bank of America Neighborhood Champion. The nonprofit, which operates two clinics in downtown Augusta, will also receive virtual training on a variety of leadership topics, such as storytelling and human capital management. “We’re grateful for Bank of America’s many years of generous support for Christ Community,” says Don Branum, the organization’s chief executive officer. “This grant means more uninsured and underinsured families will have an affordable option for quality healthcare.”
Two local Bank of America leaders: Ora Parish – President, Augusta/Aiken and Marissa Smith – Senior Vice President and Market Executive, presented the check to Branum. “As communities continue to recover and navigate a changing landscape, nonprofits are still experiencing significant demands and are in need of resources to provide essential health and behavioral services,” Parish says. “Christ Community Health helps bridge important gaps for individuals and families to help them chart a path to economic opportunity and stability.” The bank plans to award this grant to 42 other communities nationwide as part of its Neighborhood Champions program, which has already given out $6.3 million in grant funding.
Christ Community provides a variety of services for both children and adults, including medical, dental, and behavioral healthcare. Founded in 2007, it currently provides these services to more than 7,000 people in a 10-county region in the Augusta area.
This isn’t the first major donation Bank of America has made to local organizations. The bank has recently invested in the following organizations: Augusta Technical College, which received $100,000; Golden Harvest Food Bank, which received $20,000; and the Greater Augusta Black Chamber of Commerce, which received $125,000.
