Local businesses team up to raise funds for injured boy

When Michelle Finn saw photos of 11-year-old Justin Gilstrap’s horrific injuries the Columbia County boy suffered after being attacked by pit bulls, the Evans business owner knew she had to help his family.

Finn and her husband, Dan, own Sol Himalayan Salt Cave & Spa located at 7013 Town Center Blvd., Suite 201, which will host a fundraiser for Justin and his family tomorrow, beginning at 10 a.m. Finn said Sol will donate 100 percent of the proceeds it receives for its services throughout the day.

When she shared the fundraiser on Facebook, other local businesses, such as The Salty Beaver, Springtime Water, and Sugar and Spice Cocktail Mixers, LLC, signed up to help.

“Seeing the pictures was heart-wrenching,” Finn said. “It’s just fun that we’ve got all these businesses joining in, making it that much bigger and better.”

11-year-old Justin Gilstrap suffered injuries following a dog attack.

Kind Souls Designs, LLC will sell “Justin Tough” T-shirts and donate the proceeds to his family, while the owner of Expecting for Less Maternity has volunteered to help with customers during the fundraiser.

“We’ve already raised $400 from local businesses and loyal customers,” she said.

Those businesses include Advanced Air Technology and Beth’s Beads.

Finn said Justin’s mother, Ericka Stevens, can use the money for whatever she chooses.

“I know he has a long road ahead of him,” she said. “If you can’t make it, prayers are definitely needed.”
