Local veteran to give away bottles of his barbecue sauce this weekend

After retiring from the U.S. Army, Lt. Col. Mark Douglass developed his own line of barbecue sauces, and he plans to give away more than $10,000 worth of it this weekend.

Douglass is the founder and owner of Warrior’s Choice, a company that creates and sells sauces in a variety of military-themed flavors, including Defender, Spartan Heat, and Patriot’s Pride.

He will give free bottles to the first 1,080 people who attend Papa Joe’s Banjo-B-Que Music Festival, which will be held tomorrow and Saturday at the Columbia County Fairgrounds in Grovetown. Each bottle is valued at $10.

Gates open at 4 p.m. tomorrow and noon on Saturday.

“This is a great event and a wonderful opportunity for folks to try our Warrior’s Choice gourmet barbecue sauces,” Douglass said. “It should be a lot of fun for everyone.”

He donates a portion of the proceeds from his business to various organizations that support disabled veterans, such as Paralyzed Veterans of America, ForcesUnited, and the Veterans Crisis Line.

Douglass began working on the sauces in 2020 and officially launched his product line in January 2022. For more information, visit warriorschoice.us/.
