Many business owners will agree that good help is hard to find, but Aiken Technical College wants to help connect local employers with qualified applicants.
The college will host its Spring 2023 Community Job Fair on Wednesday, March 22, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the college’s gymnasium, which is in the 900 building. The event is open to the public.
So far, more than 60 CSRA employers have signed up to participate, according to ATC’s Director of Student Success, Jeff Boehl.
“There really is something for everyone,” Boehl said. “A number of employers will be conducting open interviews as well, so this event isn’t just an information fair.”
Local companies participating in the fair include ATC Development, Piedmont Healthcare, Ellefson Transportation Group, and Shaw Industries. There is room for more potential employers, but the registration deadline is tomorrow, March 17.
Sizemore Inc., an Augusta-based staffing agency, is currently hiring for several positions, such as welders, machine operators, and production associates, according to its Senior Corporate Communications Coordinator, Joey Warren.
“We’re always screening for potential new hires and looking to hire good people,” Warren said. “We strive to maintain a constant pool of qualified applicants to meet our customers’ needs.”
Boehl said the job fair also helps Aiken Technical College students learn more about career opportunities from regional employers.
“It gives them a chance to consider and look at other employers that may not have been on their radar,” he said.
Boehl sees the fair as a great way to strengthen the college’s relationships with businesses in the CSRA and beyond and recruit new students.
