Munchie’s Snacks Closes but New Plans are Already Underway

Munchie’s Snacks replaced an ice cream shop on 3830 Washington Road in the West Town Shopping Center in December 2023. Two days ago, they announced their closing on social media.

Dear friends…with a heavy heart, we announce the immediate closing of our beloved establishment. This decision was not made lightly, and it comes with a profound sense of gratitude for the incredible journey we have shared with each of you.

From the very beginning, our mission was to create a space where community, creativity, and passion could thrive. Thanks to your unwavering support, we were able to bring our dream to life and make it a reality.

While this chapter may be coming to a close, we are excited about what lies ahead. We hope you will join us on our next adventure, wherever it may lead. Please stay connected, as we will be sharing updates and new opportunities to come together again.

For an entrepreneur and restaurateur like owner, Ramiro Galvan, when one door closes, another opens.

“The challenge with Munchie’s Snacks was we didn’t have a kitchen. We were limited so it wasn’t a good business move. We signed a three-year contract for that space so we are working it out,” said Galvan.

He says they are working on something special for that space. If you look at the success of Taqueria El Rey in the same shopping center, you will know he means business.

Galvan has been a major supporter of food donations and volunteering in the community. That will continue as we continue to follow his progress as a small successful business.

Ramiro Galvan also owns Taqueria El Rey, a popular Mexican restaurant in the same shopping center. Galvan is also known for his community service with food donations and volunteerism to help young entrepreneurs.

He also made news in the summer of 2022 when he opened Munchie’s Lab on 1022 Walton Way to satisfy the late-night “munchies” of the Augusta crowd. Galvan closed the restaurant after a little more than a year, blaming poor foot traffic.
