Cavalier’s Coffeehouse was opened four and a half years ago by founder, David Brannon during Covid. Through those tough times, the North Augusta native made it successful, becoming a stopping place for students and business folk alike.
Fast forward to February 2025. As ABD has reported, Brannon, now the Director of Palmetto Peach Development, has been heading up a $35 million investment in Beacon Bluff. When it came time to turn over the reins of Cavalier’s Coffeehouse recently, he was approached by several potential buyers.
“I wanted to continue the foundation I laid, and I immediately thought of my longtime friend Brad Pond. I believe he is the perfect fit and will do a great job of continuing the area’s growth,” said Brannon.

Like Brannon, Pond grew up in North Augusta. He has an MBA from the Citadel and spent six years in the Navy. He took over the ownership of the coffee shop last week. Cavalier’s will continue serving responsibly sourced coffee from Counter Culture and a variety of in-house-made flavors, locally crafted beers, and high-end wines.
As a self-described “serial entrepreneur” who has managed a software company and other businesses, including MotorKEG, a mobile beer truck, Pond has plans to expand several areas of the business.
“I’m always planning. While keeping the vibe alive, expanding our space, adding food options, and creating a bigger social media presence are part of our plan in the coming weeks,” explained Pond.
Pond will blow out a wall in the existing space to create a continuity between the inside shop and an outside courtyard. During Masters week, Cavalier’s will stay open later.
“Our MotorKEG will be on hand as we expand the courtyard. While we won’t have a full kitchen, we will soon expand our food options to breakfast sandwiches and appetizers.”
Pond is also looking to partner with small local businesses to support his plans for those future menu additions.
For now, Cavalier Coffeehouse is open Monday through Saturday from 6:30 AM until 5:30 PM and Sunday from 8:00 AM until 3:00 PM in Jackson Square, 336 Georgia Avenue. You can visit their Facebook here for more information.
