Editor’s note: Last week, ABD was pleased to be a sponsor for the SHRM meeting and provide a follow-up story about simple solutions to finding qualified employees for your continued business success. Their upcoming meeting takes workplace success to the next level. In case you missed it, here is a link to the story: Practical ways to improve your workforce.
If leadership at companies is only just beginning to get on board with the idea of emotional intelligence in the workplace, that should come as no surprise. Emotional intelligence is a relatively new concept that organizations are only starting to keep in mind when managing their workplaces.
Emotional intelligence in the workplace is one of the most critical leadership skills, as it helps workers understand and manage their own emotions when around their coworkers. The workplace can be a volatile environment, filled with stress, pressure, anxiety, and even drama from time to time. It can also be a place of happiness, contentment, and excitement. All of these facets can play a role in how someone feels at any given moment, and managing those feelings indicates their level of emotional intelligence, EI.

The CSRA SHRM is hosting a virtual meeting on July 13 at Noon, with David Cory which should provide an EI blueprint for your company. He is a Canada-based coach and leadership development specialist known for his expertise in applying the concept of emotional intelligence to individual and organizational performance improvement. David founded one of the first companies in North America to focus on the development of leadership based on emotional intelligence in 1998.

The EI blueprint is being used by some of the most successful companies in America, including Google, Amazon, and Microsoft.
