Re-engaging CSRA’s workforce

Area Chambers of Commerce and technical schools are doing their part to train, recruit, and develop our workforce in the CSRA.

A local Human Resource chapter wants to bridge any possible gaps there might be by bringing all stakeholders to the table on September 12th.

Tony Welch is the Director of Workforce Readiness and Committee Chairman for the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) event. He also serves as the HR Director of the Department of Health. He is excited about SHRM taking the lead on the first-of-its-kind conference.

“We’re uniting major employers, small business owners, and social services organizations to pool resources, share best practices, and bridge the gap between local employment demands and the challenges job seekers face in accessing career opportunities,” he told ABD.

The summit will take place on September 12, 2024, from 11:45 AM to 4:30 PM in the fellowship hall of the First Baptist Church of Augusta, located at 3500 Walton Way Extension.

This event features:

  • Keynote luncheon address: Richard Woods, Superintendent, Georgia Schools
  • Dr. Simon Medcalfe, Professor of Economics at Augusta University, will discuss the state of employment in the CSRA
  • A roundtable of local employers sharing innovative strategies for recruiting, training, and retaining tomorrow’s workforce
  • Panel discussions with social service providers who support employees in overcoming obstacles like childcare, transportation, reintegration, and special needs accommodations
  • Opportunities to find resources needed to create a road map to success for your organization

Ticket Information:

  • Individual tickets: $45
  • Corporate table of 8: $275
