Among the job hopefuls in the crowd at AU was Joyce Li, a health science major studying to be a dental hygienist. Li was an old hand with the Masters job fair.
“I worked there last year, and I had a lot of fun talking to a lot of people, and I made great connections with that,” she said. “It’s such a big tournament in Augusta, especially, and there’s a lot of people working here. I also really enjoyed the people that I worked with.”
Li said the long, half-day shifts taught her a lot about interacting with people, a talent she will use in her chosen career.
“I work 12 hours every day with the same people, so I had to talk to them because I didn’t have any phone to distract myself,” she said. “I had to talk to them and have a connection. I learned that talking was really important, speaking out loud, asking questions when I have difficulties, and a lot of teamwork.”
Students, faculty and staff at Augusta University (AU) had the chance to get a jump start on working at The Masters 2027 tournament.

Representatives from the Augusta National Golf Club set up in the AU Student Health building on the Health Sciences campus to explain openings for assorted job opportunities.
Julie Goley, Director of AU Career Services, told ABD this two-day job fair is an annual event to help job seekers interested in spending their Spring Break welcoming golf fans.
“It’s a great way to kick off the recruitment cycle for Augusta National,” she said. “These students are ready because they’re on spring break, so this is truly their first kickoff to start their recruitment cycle at Augusta National.”
The lobby of the Student Health building was filled with students, faculty, and staff, lining up at each table that focused on specific open positions.

“They all have different recruitment needs, she explained. “Augusta National hires thousands of workers for the tournament. Everything from supply chain to hospitality to merchandising. Most people think of the merchandising because of the gift shop, and that’s huge. But there are also a lot of different needs behind the scenes, including security.”

Goley added she was not surprised at the turnout.
“We usually have several hundred students come through. We had over 200 come through yesterday when we were on the Summerville campus, and we average about 500 students each year that are out there working the tournament,” she said.
Goley said in addition to work experience, it makes an interesting note on a resume.
“It’s a curiosity to employers, and they know the Masters Tournament has a very distinct brand, just like Disney has a very distinct brand,” she said. “It stands out for our students. Most of them have come out of high school, and they have a little bit of retail experience or a little bit of hospitality experience. This gives them something where they can literally get the best of customer service training when we are the world’s red carpet for a week out of the year.”
Attendees had the opportunity to talk one-on-one with the hiring managers from each department. They were also given a special application portal designed for AU talent.
Applications to the general public will open on October 1st.
