Saucy entrepreneurs featured on Hulu today

It’s National Hot Sauce Day and there is no better time to spotlight Adventure Sauces and husband and wife team, Ryan and Lee Baumgartner, who started the business in Aiken. Their newest creation called Today’s Adventure will be included in a Hulu/Disney series that launches today called Superhot.

The name of their spicy concoction which is a pineapple habanero sauce pays homage to the YouTube show they started in 2020. During the pandemic, the platform along with Zoom and Facetime calls became a favorite way to stay connected.

The Baumgartners who loved sampling hot sauces and making them, began connecting with the chili pepper community across the country, attending hot sauce festivals and competitions sponsored by the League of Fire.

“Along the way, we met a lot of sauce makers who became like family. Their encouragement inspired us to make our own hot sauce,” explained Ryan.

“We made sauces for family and friends. They loved it and suggested that we start selling them,” added Lee.

Adventure Sauces launched in November and began shipping their brand in December. Now just a month later, they are being featured in a TV series. Now, that is a recipe for success!

“They are really crafted hot sauces with a high volume of the best ingredients and no water.”

The timing is right for Adventure Sauces. Hot sauce sales are projected to be more than $1 Billion this year and growing. Studies show the growth is fueled by several factors, including changing palates as people lean towards bolder and more adventurous flavors. Also, hot sauces are perceived as a healthier alternative to heavy condiments due to their low calorie and fat content. Capsaicin, the compound responsible for the heat in hot sauces, is even believed to have potential health benefits, such as aiding metabolism and reducing inflammation.

Lee and Ryan are developing two new sauces and are working to partner with shops and restaurants in the CSRA.
