Veterans open CSRA business to serve and protect your biggest lifetime purchase

After more than 20 years of military service in the U.S. Army, Jeremiah Adell and his wife, Maria are serving again, this time with a home inspection business. Last month, their family opened a Pillar to Post Home Inspectors franchise.

“I’m from Rochester, New York, but Maria is from Augusta. When we bought our house here, I was still deployed, so the Pillar to Post Home Inspectors business seemed a great fit for us. The company has a checklist that takes the mystery out of home inspection whether a spouse is deployed or not,” Jeremiah explained.

One of the reasons the Adell’s were drawn to Pillar to Post is the technology aspect which offers a 360-degree virtual tour. They also consider their positions as similar to general physicians which examine symptoms and signs for new home buyers and then, “We can refer them to specialists to address the problems including wood rot and mold, issues that might not even be visible, but could save folks a lot of money.”

The process of educating home buyers and the importance of inspections relates directly to why Jeremiah joined the army in the first place.

“I joined for the education opportunity. It was just before 9/11. Then it was a paradigm shift for me. It became patriotic and I wanted to serve my country.”

The Adell’s are working with the Department of Defense Skill Bridge program at Fort Eisenhower to provide internships and training in the home inspection field for military personnel who are soon to transition to civilian life.

“It’s very important to us to help our community and provide jobs in the future.”

As Black History Month comes to an end, the Adell’s and their five children are celebrating their history and that of their ancestors.

“We feel that we are our brother’s keeper and we need to push forward despite the obstacles.”

Jeremiah’s favorite quote comes from the inspiration and leadership of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
