What do fried chicken and summer dangers have in common?

With heat indexes reaching nearly 110 degrees over the weekend—WifeSaver is stepping up to help lead a summer relief program.

Through the end of June, the Summer Relief Donation Drive will collect bottled water, reusable water bottles, sunscreen, and fans for individuals and families facing the challenges of extreme summer temperatures.

Donations can be dropped off throughout June at WifeSaver on North Leg Road, The Salvation Army Center of Hope, the Kroc Center, and any Salvation Army Family Store location.

“Summer in Georgia can be brutal, and something as simple as a bottle of water or a fan can make a real difference for someone trying to get through the day safely,” said Chris Cunningham, owner of WifeSaver. “We’re proud to partner with The Salvation Army and invite our customers and community members to join us in helping our neighbors stay cool this summer.”

“Every summer, we see firsthand how dangerous extreme heat can be for our neighbors,” said Major Jonathan Raymer, Area Commander of The Salvation Army of Augusta. “Whether it’s a senior trying to keep their home cool, someone walking to work in the afternoon sun, or a family struggling to make ends meet, these donations provide both comfort and protection. We are grateful to WifeSaver and our community for helping us care for those who need it most.”

In addition to physical drop-off locations, supporters can visit salvationarmyaugusta.org to shop The Salvation Army’s online wish list and have items shipped directly to the shelter.
