Who’ll be picked, “Best in Business” in the CSRA?

Last year, local business owners, Jason Kennedy and Charlie Wall were selected as the best of the best among Augusta’s many entrepreneurs by the Augusta Metro Chamber and Commerce.

Kennedy and Wall, co-founders of Loop Recruiting, a technology staffing company, won the Chamber’s Augusta’s Entrepreneur Award and were honored at the Dec. 2021 Member Economic Luncheon. ABD spoke to Kennedy at the luncheon, and he thanked both the Chamber and Loop’s staff for helping him and Wall win the award.

“Everyone works really hard,” Kennedy said.

Augusta’s Entrepreneur is one of the Chamber’s two Best in Business Awards. The other is Corporation of the Year, which, last year, went to Savannah River Nuclear Solutions and was accepted by the company’s President and CEO, Stuart MacVean.

“We take our corporate responsibility very seriously,” MacVean said at the luncheon. “This award encourages our employees to continue volunteering and giving back to the community.”

The Chamber is currently accepting applications for this year’s Best in Business awards. To be eligible for Augusta’s Entrepreneur award, an applicant must be an owner, partner, or major shareholder who’s active in a local business’s daily operations; the business must be a Chamber member when the award is presented, and the company must be in business and good financial standing for at least 12 months.

Honorees are selected based on various factors, including business success and community involvement. Besides being honored at the luncheon, winners are also recognized in The Augusta Chronicle, entered for a chance to win the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Dream Big Small Business Award, and appointed to the Augusta Metro Chamber’s Board of Directors for one year.

To be eligible for the Corporation of the Year Award, a company must have at least 200 employees working in the Greater Augusta area and be a for-profit business. Applicants are judged on various criteria, including business growth and community service.

“Celebrating entrepreneurial know-how and the strength in our corporate sector is one of our best celebrations annually,” said Chamber President and CEO, Sue Parr. “We look forward to honoring companies that significantly contribute to what makes our business community very special and recognizing their success.”

The application deadline is Friday, Nov. 18. For more information, visit augustametrochamber.com/bestinbusiness.
