Working for the Weekend: Carowinds

I grew up in the middle of America, so instead of Disney and beaches, my family would trek to regional amusement parks and my dad and I would ride roller coasters. I’ve waited years to do the same with my girls, and we found a perfect spot just a couple of hours from home.

I think most people think of Six Flags when they think of a nearby amusement park, but the real gem of our area is Carowinds, just this side of Charlotte. It quite literally sits on the state line between North and South Carolina, in fact, on a couple of rides, you’ll be in both states before it’s done.

But this unique feature is just the start. There are 14 roller coasters, one of which is often ranked in the top 5 in the United States. But what’s it like to take 6-year-olds and navigate height restrictions and heat meltdowns? Watch this latest “Dadventure” to find out how we had the best day ever at Carowinds.
