2 Questions for the Dean: Combining business, art, and networking

ABD: Talk about the collaborative aspect of the Biz Art program.

HULL: It is an event that we put on every semester. It is a collaboration between the Hull College of Business and the Department of Art and Design.

And the idea is really bringing collaborative students, collaborative partners in the business community that work in that space. That intersection between business and art. We get a lot of our marketing students that will come to the event, and next thing you know, they’re rubbing shoulders with some of the art students and graphic design and it provides that opportunity of a space where you may have to work with fellow colleagues and students. And they get that interaction. We use that event as an opportunity to bring a lot of community and community partners and businesses that work in that space to talk about how they got into that field. It allows students to hear from those working professionals. You know what they what they need to do and what they need to improve upon to get to where they are and just sort of fast-forwarding years later,

ABD: What are the biggest skills students learn at this event?

HULL: The collaboration allows those students to really understand, you know, this is my network. These are the people that I need to know, the people that I need to work with and reach out to. And so that’s, that’s one of the things that this event has really helped students as well as the community understand what the Hull College has to offer, what AU has to offer, and certainly the Department of Art and Design.
