If Trenton Andrews (center) looks a little tired, it’s easy to understand why. He camped out since 9:30 Wednesday night in advance of Thursday morning’s grand opening of the second Surcheros Tex Mex restaurant in Augusta.
Andrews is one of the first 50 customers to win an entrée per week for an entire year. “I’ve been eating at Surcheros since I was 13,” said the AU Psychology student. That was at the Macon, Georgia, Surcheros. Andrews eats three times a week at the original Augusta location of Surcheros on Washington Road in the same plaza as Bonefish Grill.

Madison Tuten (center) opened his first location in June 2022.
“I always knew I wanted to grow. In Richmond County, we thought it could hold two Surcheros, we didn’t know where,” said Tuten from the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting on Thursday morning.
His 2500 square foot store is in a plaza with newly opened Dave’s Hot Chicken and Peachtree Immediate Healthcare set back from Wheeler Road across from Cadence Bank and Meybohm.

Tuten knows he’s competing with many local restaurateurs in the Tex-Mex space that features burritos and bowls, but says Surcheros is different.
“We grill our burritos and grill our veggies and offer next-level service and hospitality with no freezer.” Said Tuten.
Surcheros has a selection of more than 25 toppings and a variety of signature sauces.
Salads and quesadillas are also available in the dining area, by curbside pickup, a dedicated pickup window, and delivery through DoorDash and Uber Eats. The restaurant will operate Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 am to 9:00 pm, with extended hours on Friday and Saturday from 10:30 am to 10:00 pm.
