Saturday event helps support downtown businesses

Claire Riche loves downtown Augusta and enjoys promoting businesses in that part of town. Riche is organizing the second Support Downtown Augusta Trick or Treat on Broad Street event. The free event, sponsored by Mod Ink, Westobou, Redemption Church, and Field Botanicals, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 30 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Broad Street between Ninth Street and 12th Street. Local German restaurant reopens without its founder

For Mark Grant and his family, reopening Adolf Hermann’s successful German restaurant in Evans has been no easy task. Hermann owned and operated Augsburg Haus – located at 4460 Washington Road in the Liberty Square Shopping Center across the street from Walmart, until his death on Sept. 1 at age 56.
