Bruster’s replacement planning on a 2021 move-in

Demolition crews are working overtime on site at North Belair Road in Evans clearing the land that Bruster’s restaurant was once on.

The local franchisee of many KFC’s is developing a “KFC Express” type restaurant in which the focus will be on the drive-thru, take-out and delivery, with a smaller emphasis on sit-down dining.

The footprint is smaller than most KFC’s nationally, but similar to the size of the Wrightsboro Road location.

Construction crews are taking an aggressive approach to developing the restaurant, with a goal of opening around the holidays of 2021.

KFC will be competing with several “chicken-focused” restaurants within a few miles including Slim Chickens, Bojangles, Popeyes, Zaxby’s, Chick-Fil-A and others.

KFC has not had a presence in Evans for many years.

Billy Wingate was a previous franchisee of KFC and shutdown all four of his locations between 2012-13 due to labor and food costs, including two in Evans, one in Grovetown and other in West Augusta, which is now a Barney’s Pharmacy.

The franchisee of the Brusters’ decided to close after getting the offer from KFC. Brusters’ remains open in West Augusta across from Regal 20.
