Simon Says: 3.5-year job record

The Augusta Labor Market Index rose 0.2 percent in April from March. It is 0.1 percent higher than April 2023. Small monthly changes were seen in employment (down 100) and the unemployment rate (up 0.1 percentage points to 3.7%). Larger, positive changes were seen in the labor force and hours worked. The labor force increased 0.4 percent to 266,032, the highest level since December 2020. The labor force has increased by over 2,000 since January, a very positive sign. Average hours worked also increased from 33.8 in March to 34.7

Nation’s largest CyberPatriot Camp x2

This week, more than 150 students are in town for the largest CyberPatriot Camp ever held. The camp hosted by the Alliance for Fort Eisenhower began yesterday and runs through Friday, June 7. The so-called Standard CyberPatriot Camp is designed for beginners with no prior cybersecurity knowledge and covers topics such as the CyberPatriot competition, cybersecurity careers, cyber ethics, online safety, computer fundamentals, virtual machines, and cyber threats. USCA has received money from a veteran-owned cybersecurity firm that will fund scholarships for students seeking a career in cybersecurity and computer science. SteelGate, LLC, a Virginia-based company with an office in Augusta, has donated $25,000 to USCA.
