Food Bank hires local group to plan $5 million project

A local charitable organization has received a $3.7 million grant that will help to feed the hungry in the CSRA. Golden Harvest Food Bank is one of eight food banks throughout Georgia that has received a Department of Community Affairs Grant, which will be administered locally by the Augusta Economic Development Authority. The grant was funded by the CARES Act – a law that was passed in response to the pandemic. CSRA golf course to reopen with new name and owner

An 18-hole public golf course that’s been closed since August will soon reopen in the small town of Bamberg. Bamberg Golf & Sports Club (see photo above), located at 128 Paw Paw Road, officially closed on Saturday, Aug. 14. Built in 1981, the 135-acre course was developed by renowned architect, Russell Breeden. Bamberg Golf, which was previously called the Paw Paw Country Club, has been sold to a new owner according to Meybohm Commercial Properties. The course will also have a new name: River Burch Golf Club.

Another local company to help Kentucky tornado victims

David Byrd wants to provide prompt relief to those who need it the most. Byrd – President of Southern Beverage Packers Inc. in Appling, says the KAMO company will deliver at least 3,000 cases of Springtime bottled water to those affected by the tornadoes in Kentucky during the week of Dec. 27th. “It’s important for small businesses to help communities in need due to our quick reaction time to provide basic needs,” he states. Local credit union employees help community for the holiday season

Employees of SRP Federal Credit Union have been active in supporting local charities in various ways throughout the month of December. They filled 66 stockings for The Salvation Army’s Stuff a Stocking campaign and supported the charitable organization’s Angel Tree program by donating gifts for 39 children, while 16 employees volunteered as bell ringers for this year’s Red Kettle campaign.
