Augusta BizBitz

BAM IS BACK! My years covering CSRA business tells me that when businesses’ “temporarily close” and say they’ll re-open—they usually don’t. It’s happened with Sunshine Bakery in downtown Augusta, Moe’s on Washington Road in National Hills and in about 9 out of 10 situations. So, when Books-A-Million announced it was closing its Aiken Mall store in July so they could find a better option, I was understandably skeptical. ABD’S learned that the national chain will be retrofitting the old Aaron’s Rental store in the Kalmia Plaza next to Hibbet Sports

Mellow Mushroom set to move from longtime location

Mellow Mushroom is relocating to the old 1102 Restaurant and Bar to move their pizza ovens and seating from a block away up Broad Street. She said the building at 1102 is not larger, but more functional. Mellow

New twist on the food truck business

Food trucks have been a convenient and versatile alternative around the country for a decade, or so this writer hears, but not so much around Aiken County, S.C., until the last few years. One of the things that purveyors of the mobile restaurants love about them is that they can pack up and re-appear at the next social event as fast as their permits will allow them. One of the few things that their customer’s sometimes regret is that they don’t know where they are today. Dos Potrillos Mexican Restaurant

Local German restaurant reopens without its founder

For Mark Grant and his family, reopening Adolf Hermann’s successful German restaurant in Evans has been no easy task.
