Coffee/Sandwich Shop Ready for Burgeoning Burke County Business

In one of the 13 original Georgia counties, once a prime cotton-producing area, a new coffee shop and eatery has opened that pays tribute to that past. Located five miles north of the county seat of Waynesboro in Keysville, High Cotton Coffee opened its doors on January 9.

If you need a caffeine fix or a breakfast sandwich on the way to work towards Augusta or elsewhere in the CSRA, they are on the main drag at 3049 Highway 25 North.

“It started with a love of coffee and my business partner Regan Strite and my family made my dream of opening High Cotton Coffee a reality,” said owner Vince Goering.

The coffee selections are already popular and the breakfast and lunch menu is gaining ground with customers for good reason. High Cotton Coffee is a build-out from the local favorite Wagon Barn Market run by his dad, Nathan.

“My dad’s next-door business offers fresh produce, oven-ready casseroles, and an array of desserts. It helps us offer some great food choices at our coffee shop with fresh ingredients including blackberry bacon grilled cheese and a Reuben sandwich, both of which are becoming popular.”

As ABD has previously reported two major manufacturing investments are coming to Burke County, Ritz Instrument Transformers, based in Hamburg, Germany, announced plans for a $28 million facility that will employ about 130 people. TCM Transformers USA Inc. will build a facility worth more than $15 million and offer about 110 jobs.

“This provides the citizens of Burke County, who have to make that 30 to 45-minute drive every day to Richmond or Columbia (Counties), to work right here in their backyard. And that’s kind of the key point here,” said Austin Stacy, Executive Director of the Development Authority of Burke County.

High Cotton Coffee will provide those additional workers a place to grab a cup of freshly made coffee, a breakfast sandwich, or a lunch option. After their shift is over, they can grab other dinner options at Wagon Barn Market.

High Cotton Coffee is open Mon, Tue, Thurs, Friday from 6:30 am until 1:00 pm and Saturday from 7:30 am until 1 pm. They are closed on Wednesday and Sunday. For more information, follow them on Facebook by clicking here.
