Entrepreneur combines fun and sales experience to start video biz

Kevin Jay loves sampling restaurants and having a fun time in the CSRA. His new brand, Eat Play Explore Augusta, allows him to have his cake and eat it too.

Jay uses his iPhone to record and edit videos for local hospitality businesses that want more exposure and content to use on social media.

“I’ve traveled all over the country and see first-hand that small businesses don’t have a lot of money for advertising,” Jay said, himself a transplant to Martinez from Kansas City, Mo.

Jay has spent 25 years in the media business helping clients with their advertising. He charges between $250-$395 to videotape, edit and apply fun graphics to a 1.5- to 3-minute video that clients get to approve.

“Many of our options in that price range also include more revisions and extra posts on Facebook, Instagram, and Augusta Business Daily,” he added.

Angie Griffin, Hood of Blooms Boards and More was one of Jay’s first video clients, here pictured catering an event during the Masters’ tournament.

Clients so far have included Mellow Mushroom, Wild Sugar Treat Shop, Blooms Boards and More, and a salesperson offering Red Carpet treatment at Jim Hudson Acura. All videos are hosted on Jay’s YouTube page, which can be scanned in with his QR Code (see Jay’s thought leader page).

“Small businesses here need another form of marketing and YouTube is great because people spend a huge amount of time on the platform,” he said.

With the newspaper industry less in demand for his services, Jay hopes to be home in the CSRA having fun and sharing his videos with the community.
