Ethically Speaking

Money is set aside each year for the business community to visit the Hull College of Business to talk about ethics in the workplace and when deals get done.

The Dean of the school explains where the ethics panel got started and what business people will learn from attending.

“The Blanchard Ethics series was endowed by the former Georgia Bank and Trust in honor of Russell Blanchard, and that happened in the late 2000s.

We’ve been running an annual series ever since. The event is open to the community, free of charge, obviously, for our students, faculty, and staff at Augusta University, the real focus of the event is ethics. That is an area that a lot of people have differing views and perspectives on, and so bringing in these speakers, where they talked about the challenges that they faced, how they’ve approached, the decisions that they’ve made, and in many cases, will admit to consequences as a result of those decisions.

And we hope that as people hear these stories, they recognize how maybe what might seem like a small decision starting off turned into something much more, made it much worse off down the line. And so, we want students to hear these stories and hear how people got to, where they got to, when, when they thought they were okay with the decisions that were being made.

Publisher’s Note:

The Ethics Panel for the Fall has been postponed until Spring. Once the speaker is finalized, ABD will have a link to sign up.
