Experience Augusta celebrates tourism today

Augusta, GA – Destination Augusta, the Augusta Sports Council, and Film Augusta are hosting the 2023 Experience Augusta Annual Tourism Celebration event today at the historic Miller Theater starting at 3:30 p.m. Experience Augusta will celebrate the impact of tourism on our community.

Talk show host, Poncere Daniels will serve as emcee.

Mayor Garnett Johnson will be present to welcome attendees to Experience Augusta. Talk show host and comedian, Poncere Daniels will serve as the Emcee for the celebration, and local band Straw Boss will provide musical entertainment. Attendees will hear from Destination Augusta President/CEO, Bennish Brown and Augusta Sports Council CEO, Michelle Pippin to recount notable 2023 highlights from each organization and look forward to what’s coming in 2024.

Experience Augusta will include the Augusta Tourism Awards ceremony to honor individuals and organizations who have gone above and beyond to strengthen Augusta’s tourism and hospitality industry. This year’s honorees include:

  • Michael Wolff – President’s Award
  • Coco Rubio – Community Spirit Award
  • Mark Crump – Film Augusta Partner of the Year
  • Phinizy Center & Nature Park – Partner of the Year Award
