Faith Friday: Business owners connect with the community through art, love, and faith

Since May 2014, Humanitree House Juice Joint & Art Gallery has been the premiere spot in Augusta for cold-pressed juice, smoothies, vegan food, original artwork/classes, and all-around vibes of positive energy.

It is arguably the first cold-pressed juice bar and artistic venue in the City of Augusta, a must-see/must-visit downtown oasis at 305 8th Street. Humanitree, which was the title of a New York art series by Baruti Tucker, co-owner and master artist, connected art to nature and became the perfect name to describe the business’s connection to the community.

“You come in as people and leave as humans,” says Denise Tucker, co-owner and Baruti’s partner in life and business. “We are all connected: people, nature, spirit.”

Husband and wife, Baruti and Denise Tucker see faith as the fuel for their business.

“Humanitree House was started with very little capital or help,” she said. “We have had to consistently trust in God to function day to day. There have been so many times when we didn’t know if we were going to be able to open the next day…but God. God has come through in so many ways.

“We are wealthy in spirit; we have never had a day where we didn’t have a customer. So, God continues to send people that help to keep us sustained. We never try to measure that in revenue.”

The long-lasting spiritual and communal impact on the fabric of Augusta and beyond cannot be measured in dollars and cents. Instead, the cultural mecca the Tuckers have created because of their faith in God far surpasses any quantification by man.

In other words, the legacy being built is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in their eyes. Customers tout the business owners’ effect.

“There are some places you really want to see succeed, wrote one customer. “The owners are hardworking, big-hearted, and community-minded. Their food and/or drinks are top-notch. The atmosphere is all it could be and more. The price point is below what you would pay elsewhere, and the team always has a smile and a helping hand waiting for you.”

Humanitree House boasts some of the best vegan choices in town.

Another customer wrote, “Nothing but pure love in this place! From feels in the atmosphere to the vibrant people all the way to the food! I simply love the owners here and I feel their love in their [business]. Don’t know what’s what? Simply ask, and you may find something interesting things that are very beneficial!”

“My happy place,” exclaimed a third. “Clean, groovy, vinyl records, herbal tonics, super vegan sandwiches, and salads and killer smoothies!”

Tucker says it’s the love of God flowing through them that resonates with others. As does Christ’s love.

“Business is a faith walk,” she said. “So, my life, in general, is operated by complete trust in God for the direction and outcome of my life.”
