Faith Friday: Called to Clear Clutter: One man’s faith walk through junk removal

Trip Patat is quick to sum up the services Augusta Junk Removal offers: “If you can name it, we can haul it away.”

However, the blessings God bestows, he says, cannot be summed up if he tried. The Destin, Fla., native has called the CSRA home since 2007. Since 2021, he’s been to dozens of homes in the CSRA doing what most people hate: taking out the trash. Someone else’s trash.

“We are a waste management company that provides full-service junk removal,” Patat said. “This includes driving to a customer’s location to remove any type of unwanted items: household items, yard waste, construction debris, building debris, furniture, appliances, and much more.”

This before-and-after transformation speaks volumes for what Augusta Junk Removal can do.

“We also provide light demolition services for structures like decks, barns, sheds, trampolines, swing sets, and more. People or businesses can use our services for the pickup of as little as one item, all the way up to entire house trash-outs including hoarder houses. Believe me, they’re out there!”

With a new baby on the way about two years ago, Patat said he wanted to stop traveling so much with his previous job so he could be home with his wife, Chelsey. A friend was doing junk removal in Atlanta, and he thought it might work in Augusta. He was right.

“It took off quicker than I could keep up,” he said. “There was obviously a need in the Augusta market that wasn’t being fulfilled. Now, I can provide for my family the way that I want to. It can be very hard running a business at times, but the flexibility and being in control of my own schedule, along with the pride that comes with building the business from scratch, far outweighs the tougher times.”

Trip Patat says the birth of his daughter was a game-changer in deciding to start a business.

Patat’s belief in Christ, he says, provides a model for business that pushes him to incorporate biblical principles of hard work, providing for his family, and working with his hands.

“If I didn’t have faith in Jesus, I wouldn’t have anything!” he said. “Faith is trusting in God for my salvation and believing that God did what He did when He sent His Son to die on the cross for our sake.

As a sole proprietor, he tries to be an example for his employees.

“No employee will ever be asked to work on Sundays, as that is the day we observe as the Sabbath. This time should be spent with our families and loved ones,” he said.

“It’s a blessing to be able to serve the Augusta area through Augusta Junk Removal. God has given me a family, a home, and a great business where I love to go to work. Maybe others can see what God has done for me and realize that God can and will do it for them if they will trust Him!
