Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA are planning to breathe new life into the former Georgia Bank & Trust building in front of its complex on Furys Ferry Road, according to Karen Lee Davis.
Davis, the non-profit organization’s Director of Marketing and Public Relations said the building, which has been vacant for many years, will be transformed into a welcome center that will house the Helms College admissions office, the CEO, and the marketing team.
“It will really pull together everything we have happening on this campus,” she said.

The Goodwill Industries complex on Furys Ferry includes a donation center, retail store, Helms College, and Edgar’s Grille, as well as the Snelling Conference Center and Job Connection Center. You may have noticed demolition in the complex. Davis said that space will be used for a hemodialysis center for the college’s students enrolled in that program.
She said Goodwill also plans to add a 3,000-square-foot commercial kitchen behind the complex.
The Middle Georgia and CSRA branch serve a 35-county territory in and around Augusta and Macon.
“It’s a wonderful ecosystem of learning and jobs,” Davis said. “We’re helping people get jobs, and we’re helping to upskill people for new jobs.”
