The Augusta GreenJackets have a new owner, but it will mostly be a case of the new boss being the same as the old boss.
Last December, the GreenJackets had come under the management of Diamond Baseball Holdings, an organization formed by Endeavor Group Holdings. Diamond Baseball Holdings (DBH) owns and manages nine other minor league clubs as well.
Earlier this week, Endeavor sold DBH to Silver Lake, a technology investment company. The sale is expected to close later this year.
“We are excited to partner with Pat, Peter, and their team to help advance DBH’s mission, particularly with investment in digital technologies that are transforming baseball’s landscape today,” said Stephen Evans, Managing Director of Silver Lake, in a statement.
Pat Battle, DBH Chair, and Peter Freund, DBH CEO, will continue in their roles.
“Creating the best and most consistent fan experiences in Minor League Baseball with deep local connectivity within each community will remain our number one priority at each of the DBH Clubs,” Freund said.

“We started DBH to build brand awareness around the amazing attributes of Minor League Baseball, and to support Clubs, communities, and facilities,” Battle said. “We are grateful to Endeavor for its early support and for allowing our vision for the company to flourish. With the support of Silver Lake going forward, and by continuing to work with MLB at the national level, we are entering into a new and exciting chapter.”
DBH operates all four of the Atlanta Braves Minor League affiliates: Gwinnett Stripers (Triple-A); Mississippi Braves (Double-A); Rome Braves (High-A); and Augusta GreenJackets (Single-A).
In addition, it operates Iowa Cubs (Triple-A, Chicago Cubs); Memphis Redbirds (Triple-A, St. Louis Cardinals); Scranton/Wilkes Barre RailRiders (Triple-A, New York Yankees); Hudson Valley Renegades (High-A, New York Yankees); San Jose Giants (Single-A, San Francisco Giants); and Oklahoma City Dodgers (Triple-A, Los Angeles Dodgers).
