Have a cup of joe to help young folks in transition

Sometimes, a good cup of coffee can bring friends and even competitors together.

If you’re a coffee connoisseur, chances are you’ve supported some local cafes of a new coffee collective.

You’re invited to a special event the collective is hosting this Saturday.

The group is the Augusta Coffee Collective, started by five local specialty coffee shops: Buona Caffe, headquartered on Central Avenue, Cavaliers in North Augusta, Commander in Downtown Augusta, Goat Kick in Evans, and Trellis on Walton Way.

The collective has met almost monthly since September 2025 to support local and to do good for the community—including food drives.

Goat Coffee is hosting an event this Saturday evening called a Latte Art Throwdown. Baristas from the area coffee shops and regular coffee bean fiends will have fun in a coffee competition.

Proceeds will go to Bridge Builders Communities. Bridge Builder Communities provide housing, education, and vital resources to 18 – 25-year-olds who are aging out of the foster care system. HERE is their website.

It’s free for anyone to attend (a donation is requested, but not necessary), and $10 to enter the competition. It starts at 6 pm.

There will be cash prizes, cool coffee swag, and a raffle of 10 different coffee-themed prizes.

For more info, call or text John from Buona Caffee at 706.714.2809
