Hotels revive popular pet supply program

The rooms at Best Western, 452 Park West Drive in Grovetown, and Baymont by Wyndham Augusta Riverwatch, 2905 Riverwest Drive are not pet friendly, but the staff at both hotels are pet lovers and they are hoping guests will be also.

Kim Gibbons is the sales and marketing manager for both properties. Her own cat, Owen, served as the inspiration for what became a community service project for the hotels in 2008 and ran through 2014. Now it’s back.

“Originally, the program benefitted the CSRA Humane Society. Over the years, I’ve come to know more about rescue operations in the area. Our rescue partners for 2023 are Dog & Cat Networking Agents and Kitty Konnection,” said Gibbons.

The Kibble for Kritters program won the “Stars of the Lodging Industry” Community Service Awards from the Georgia Hotel & Lodging Association in 2010 and 2012. While the awards were nice, more important are the pets in need of help.

“Our guests are pet friendly and we encourage our community to help the thousands of homeless pets in shelters that will spend the most magical time of the year looking for some extra TLC.”
