A local agency created to help Masters tournament visitors is also available for major events year-round.
The Masters Housing Bureau (MHB) was created more than half a century ago, sanctioned by the Augusta National Golf Club.
“The Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce and the Augusta National came together and formed the Masters Housing Bureau,” Director LaShandrea Redd explained for ABD. “We are very happy that we get the privilege of working with numerous homeowners throughout the CSRA to help them find renters for their lovely properties for Masters, Peach Jam, and Ironman.”
Helping tourists coming to Augusta for Peach Jam and Ironman 70.3 is relatively new when viewed through the bureau’s 50-year history. Redd said they are ready to help out-of-town visitors find the best accommodations.
“Somebody physically with boots on the ground in Augusta, myself and my team, we know the majority of our homeowners, so we have a good, hands-on who we’re working with,” she said. “We want to make sure they’re (guests) having a fantastic experience and can ensure that they’re going to be up to satisfaction, high quality, and all that good jazz for our renters.”
In addition to housing, the MHB website provides information about what can be found in Metro Augusta, from shopping to public golf courses and fast food to fine dining.
The website is searchable, with housing broken down into number of bedrooms and baths, size, and location. It reflects the diverse range of housing available in the area.

“We have your cute little cottages up to your big estate style home,” said Redd. “It’s because every renter is different; some are just the husband and wife that are coming and just want something small for themselves, or you have those bigger companies that need those illustrious homes because they are hosting events.”
A homeowner interested in registering their property with MHB can do so on the website. Prior to registering, it is recommended that homeowners stage the home to make it appealing to potential renters.
“There’s a ton of helpful resources on our site on what is needed, how to prepare, and what is expected. Just making sure that you’re at least taking the right steps,” Redd advised, adding that they will help prepare the home before photographs are taken to accompany the listing.
“When we do a walk-through, we’re saying, ‘I would just change this out, or I would do this differently, or this looks good,’ and that way we can point you in the right direction of what needs to be changed before you get those photos, and you have it live on the site, ready to go.”

While The Masters and associated events such as the Augusta National Women’s Amateur (ANWA) and Drive, Chip Putt are MHB’s bread and butter, helping patrons of other events is fun for Redd and her staff.
“Just being a small part of any of these means so much to us,” she said. “The fact that out of any of the agencies, online or physically in town, that people can go to, that they choose and trust us, it definitely makes my heart happy that I get to be a small part of this bigger operation.”
