John Deere honored with Good Neighbor Award

The company slogan is “Nothing runs like a Deere” and the Red Cross couldn’t run their humanitarian response without the support of businesses and individuals.

As the volunteer partner for the Red Cross “Sound the Alarm” campaign, more than 30 John Deere employees volunteered their time to go door to door recently with Red Crossers and the Augusta Fire Department installing free smoke alarms and providing fire safety education to families in the Harrisburg Community.

“It was truly inspiring working with such dedicated John Deere employees visiting homes, installing smoke alarms, and providing home fire safety education to our neighbors as part of our “Sound the Alarm” campaign.  The employees of John Deere made a lasting impact in the Harrisburg Community by making more than 75 people safer through the campaign,” said Susan Everitt, Executive Director of the American Red Cross of East Central GA.

Everitt presented the Red Cross Good Neighbor Award to John Deere. Accepting the award for John Deere was Quintin Murray, Factory Manager; Luneta Louis, Senior Quality Engineer; Susan Everitt; and Matt Conklin, Factory Engineering Manager, and member of the Red Cross Board of Directors (pictured left to right).

The Red Cross Good Neighbor Award recognizes a local organization that has partnered with the Red Cross to raise awareness of the Red Cross mission and to expand the scope of communities that the Red Cross is able to serve.
