Local real estate agent launches home organization business

If your pantry is full of outdated food, and you have clothes in your closet you haven’t worn in several years, Melissa Starrette can help.

Starrette, a realtor with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Executive Partners, has officially launched a new business called Busy Bee Home Organizing, which specializes in decluttering and organizing pantries, closets, and garages.

“The first battle is getting started,” she said. “The other is keeping it up with everyone’s busy schedules.”

Starrette offers a free consultation to get to know her clients and assess their needs. She then helps them figure out which items to keep, donate, or throw away. Starrette helps them organize the items they keep and develops systems for maintaining that organization, such as labeling. In the future, she’s considering adding unpacking to her list of services.

Melissa Starrette wants to help you declutter your closet, pantry, and more.

“It has to function and be simple, but it also has to be beautiful,” she said.

Starrette said so many people struggle with organization due to a lack of time and commitment to getting rid of certain items.

“We hold onto items for sentimental reasons sometimes; it’s partly psychological,” she said.

For well over a decade, Starrette was a very organized and creative sales professional and account manager for a pair of local media companies. Starrette said Busy Bee and her real estate career will complement one another. She can not only list her clients’ homes, but also prepare them for listing. Other agents in her network can also refer their clients to her prior to listing their homes.

“I know this is something people need and deserve,” Starrette said.

She doesn’t take a one-size-fits-all approach with her clients. Instead, Starrette customizes her services based on her clients’ needs.

“Clutter-free equals clarity; it’s a form of self-care,” she said.
