Local young professionals selected as top future business leaders

Dalton Self is a local entrepreneur with a passion for creating opportunities for future business leaders.
Self, Vice President of Jani-King of Augusta, was selected by the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce and Augusta Magazine as one of the Top 10 in 10 Young Professionals to Watch.

Self, who is also responsible for overseeing other Jani-King locations, including Macon, Savannah, and Memphis said in the future, he will be one of the top business leaders in the CSRA because he strives to help others become successful commercial cleaning franchises.

According to his profile in Augusta Magazine, he plans to help launch at least 16 new franchise locations, which will create an additional 100 local jobs.

“If they succeed, I succeed,” Self, 30, said. “I’m driven to represent a company I 100 percent believe in, in a city that has my heart.”

He and the other nine honorees were recognized at the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce’s June Member Economic Luncheon. Since 2009, the Chamber and magazine have selected business professionals between the ages of 25 and 35 as the top 10 to watch over the next 10 years.

Each year, young professionals throughout the CSRA submit applications that include a resume and letters of recommendation. The Top 10 in 10 selection committee evaluates applicants based on a variety of criteria, including their professional accomplishments and community service.

Each honoree is featured in Augusta Magazine and receives a plaque, as well as a nomination for Georgia Trend Magazine’s Top 40 under 40.

This year’s honorees include Rebecca van Loenen, Executive Director of the local nonprofit Augusta Locally Grown; Stacie McBride, social media strategist and founder of Stacie Social and Briana Williams, community relations officer for Queensborough National Bank & Trust Co.

Charles Jimenez, branch manager for New American Funding, a national mortgage company, said what makes him qualified to be one of Augusta’s future business leaders is his genuine care for his clients.

Jimenez, 30, said he came from humble beginnings and didn’t realize there were opportunities to succeed in Augusta.

“I wasn’t exposed to professional success,” he said. “I’m grateful to be recognized as a Top 10 Young Professional to Watch, and I genuinely hope my store can serve to inspire young people growing up like me, lacking exposure to success in our community.”
