Michelle Grant is salty. About everything, And with good reason.

You see, salt drastically improved her quality of life in many ways, and she wants others to benefit from what she says is its healing properties. That’s why she opened Sól Himalayan Salt Cave and Spa in February 2020, just five weeks ahead of the massive economic shutdown of the global pandemic.

“We are the first and only salt cave in the CSRA and offer halotherapy (salt therapy) in our Salt Cave, Zen Room, and Sauna,” said Grant, who is a certified halo therapist. “Halotherapy helps many people with allergies, asthma, bronchitis, ear infections, cystic fibrosis, COPD, and other respiratory issues. It is beneficial for eczema, psoriasis, acne, and rosacea.”

She says many people find it eases depression, anxiety, PTSD, and stress.

While halotherapy has been in use as an official form of therapy since the 18th century in Poland and is even covered by insurance in parts of Europe today, it is just starting to gain popularity in the United States. Grant said it’s exciting to bring something new to the area and she will continue to educate the public on this method of self-care and wellness. She looks to others to spread the word about the positive benefits they’ve experienced. According to her, empowering and supporting the community is important.

“I love what I do!” she said. “My business is truly my happy place and many of the guests that come through the door quickly become friends. There is nothing like happy people entering and happier, more relaxed people leaving! It is always so much fun to hear everyone’s testimonials on how halotherapy has helped.”
