Austin Cravey understands many can’t afford to wait days or even weeks for costly car repairs, which is why he helps his customers save both time and money.
About two months ago, Cravey launched Cravey’s Car Care, a local mobile mechanic business in Martinez that offers a variety of services, ranging from oil changes to engine rebuilds.
“We also do light and heavy diesel work,” he said. “We work on foreign and domestic vehicles.”
Cravey said some of his customers have already spent thousands of dollars at other repair shops, but their cars still have major mechanical issues. Because his overhead is low, he charges significantly less than other mechanics for his services.
“I’ve had people on fixed incomes who couldn’t afford to have us come out and look at their vehicles,” Cravey said. “We’ll waive the diagnostic fee or wait until they have the money to get paid.”
Whenever possible, he repairs vehicles the same day, but he can’t always get the parts he needs right away.

“Sometimes, you’ll take a car to a shop and wait a week or two weeks for someone to look at it,” Cravey said. “It’s a lot more convenient; you can sit in the comfort of your home.”
So far, he hasn’t worked on many vehicles that broke down on the side of the road.
Cravey grew up working on cars and completed his automotive training at Coastal Pines Technical College in his hometown of Hazlehurst, Georgia.
He worked for other car repair companies, including Chevrolet.
“I enjoy being able to help people get the best deal they can,” Cravey said.
He currently has two part-time employees, including his fiancée, and is available Monday through Saturday, from 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. For more information, call 912-215-9153.
