There are more than a hundred orthodontists in the CSRA, but likely few are multilingual.
Meet Dr. Daisy Oliveira who hails from Brazil and speaks English, Portuguese, and Spanish. “Dr. O,” as she is called around the office, opened MyFamily Braces in January and has already built a loyal following.
“A lot of patients come to see me because they feel comfortable because I speak their language,” Dr. Oliveira explained.
Building a relationship with patients is important to her and her staff, especially since so many people have a fear of any kind of dental work. Her specialty is braces for all ages.
Today, older adults are getting their teeth fixed in record numbers. According to Humana, more than 4 million Americans wear braces, and 25 percent of them are adults. These aren’t the old style of metal hardware you might remember from the 1970s. Today’s version is almost invisible.
“Steel is still used in braces, but many patients opt for ceramic or clear aligners such as Invisalign,” she said.

Dr. Oliveira has a master’s degree in Cosmetic Dentistry from the University of Iowa where she also taught dentistry. Her advanced specialty education in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics came from The Georgia School of Orthodontics. She has been in practice for 21 years.

Despite the heavy credentials, which also include lecturing around the world about cosmetic smile designs, the mission at MyFamily Braces is simple, “We want to make people happy with a beautiful smile and we want patients to feel like family.”
MyFamily Braces is located at 4213 Columbia Road in Martinez. You can follow their Facebook page or visit their website.
