When Katrena and her husband, Jason, moved to Augusta from New York City more than two years ago, she noticed there weren’t many businesses that offered 360-degree photo booth rentals, so she decided to start her own.
The couple, who asked us not to use their last name, launched NYC to AGS 360 Rentals at the end of October and are currently working on marketing their new business. People can rent their photo booth for a variety of celebrations, including Christmas, birthday, and New Year’s Eve parties, as well as corporate events.
Their first big event will be a birthday/New Year’s Eve party in Grovetown next weekend. She said she’s not a photographer.
“The machine does all the work; it goes around you,” Katrena said.
The photo booth records videos of events, and from those, she extracts photos. Her clients receive both a video and photos, which can also incorporate music and custom overlays. For each rental, they require a two-hour minimum and charge $125 per hour.
“I think we’re reasonable,” she said. “I want it to be affordable.”
Katrena said she and Jason started the business to network, meet new people and make their customers’ events more enjoyable. So far, the hardest part of owning NYC to AGS has been building a clientele.
“We’re at the beginning of getting out there,” she said. “A lot of it will come by word of mouth.”
Besides being a new business owner, Katrena is also an accountant whose day job is as Director of Finance for a non-profit organization located in New York City. She was excited to learn that 360-degree photo booths are becoming increasingly popular.
“I started seeing them trending in New York and other places,” Katrena said. “I thought it could be a great business venture.”
