Purpose-Fueled Leadership: Local pastor launches coaching group for Christian entrepreneurs

By the time Yannik McKie was 16, he had already experienced the pain of losing both of his parents to AIDS. But now, the local business owner, pastor, and nonprofit leader wants to help Christian entrepreneurs turn their pain into both a purpose and profits.

McKie, founder, and CEO of Living in Purpose, a leadership training company, has launched a monthly program called the Purpose-Fueled Leadership Group Coaching. The group will meet on the third Wednesday of each month 6-8 p.m. at the Purpose Center located at 1650 Olive Road in Augusta.

The first meeting will be held on September 21. So far, about 10 people have committed to joining the program.

“I really feel like Christian leaders need more motivation and inspiration from a Christian perspective,” McKie said. “This is going to look like a church for entrepreneurs.”

The group will focus on a variety of topics, including communication, emotional intelligence, and resilience. Participants will also complete leadership assessments, such as the Enneagram personality test.

“These assessments will show our strengths and growth opportunities,” McKie said.

He wants to help leaders become more productive and successful.

“We want people to maximize their potential in their personal and professional lives, so they can make a dollar and a difference,” McKie said.

McKie’s book, Living in Purpose, explains how pain can turn into purpose.

He also runs a non-profit organization called Living in Purpose, which provides mentoring for at-risk youth. The company helps to support the nonprofit, but to distinguish the two, McKie is changing the company name to Purpose-Fueled Leader.

McKie serves as lead pastor of Chosen Church, which meets Saturday evenings at Quest Church in Grovetown. He is also a teaching pastor at Quest. He wrote the 2020 book, “Living in Purpose,” which explains how God turned his pain into a purpose.

“I like to say pain is what made me run from God, but it’s also what brought me back to Him,” McKie said.

Entrepreneurs who sign up by Sept. 15 will pay $99 a month. After that, the cost increases to $199 a month. Besides meetings, participants will also receive curriculum materials, assessments, and 24/7 access to virtual leadership coaching, among other benefits.
