It’s a big deal when a high school athlete goes to signing day and announces his or her next step.
The first-ever signing day for business is coming up.
Dr. Mark Thompson explains in his own words.
“You think about that high school student that signs their letter of intent to play some sport at some college, well, we want to do the same thing, but have the students basically sign that commitment of having completed an internship at some business.
We also think that it’s an opportunity to bring those employers to signing day so they get to experience the student talking about who they signed with, who they did their internship with at that company.
Company representatives are in that celebration, and it’s an opportunity for us to recognize them and show our appreciation, because we could not do it without employers participating.
We also think we’ll extend that to those that have a job before graduation. And so, we see this as an opportunity of signing on with this employer to start my career.
And there are lots of fun ways that we can really get our employers in the community much more engaged with our students.”
ABD will be sure and let our readers know when the first signing day is scheduled.
