Local attorney, Charles Rollins (pictured above) and his family, live in a 100-year-old house on Kings Way in Augusta. When two hailstorms earlier this year caused substantial damage to their home, carport, and shed, Rollins hired a roofing expert to repair the damage.
On May 6, a storm dropped golf ball-sized hail on homes throughout the CSRA, including his historic house. He said the insurance company’s initial damage estimate was $25,000, but he thinks that amount will be closer to $40,000.
“It punched holes through nine windows and scared my wife and kids,” he said.
Rollins hired a Texas-based company, Executive Exteriors to restore his home. The company, owned by Drake Gordon, son of ABD publisher Neil Gordon, celebrated the grand opening of its second location in Augusta on Thursday, June 30.

The Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the business located at 2148 Central Ave., which has been home to multiple businesses, including a florist. After the ribbon-cutting, Gordon also hosted a block party for the local community.
“We specialize in catastrophic response,” he said. “We bridge the gap between insurance companies and policyholders.”
The company provides a variety of services, including roof replacements, leak repairs, and gutter installations, for both residential and commercial customers.

He grew up in Augusta and attended Greenbrier High School before moving to Texas and launching Executive Exteriors, which has one of the largest roofing showrooms in the United States, located in Dallas.
Gordon and his family of five are now moving back to Augusta.
“I’m excited about being home and helping the people I grew up with,” he said.
Rollins is excited to have Gordon and his crew work on his home.
“He knew exactly where to go to get the glass,” he said. “I don’t want new glass; I want an antique glass.”
