‘Tis the growing season in the CSRA

When you get off work today, you can pick up fresh veggies and other locally produced products at the South Augusta Farmers Market at Mayor Garnett Johnson’s Headquarters, 4104 Windsor Spring Road in Hepzibah. The official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of the market is at 6:00 pm. They will also be open at 9:00 am on Saturday.

Agriculture is Georgia’s leading industry with more than $74 billion in economic impact every year. In Augusta, agribusiness brings in more than $130 million, according to the Augusta Economic Development Authority (AEDA).

“The event will include legacy farmer Loretta Adderson, Master Gardener and Garden Curator Chimere J Brown, and Augusta Mayor Garnett Johnson. Mayor Johnson hosts the Market at his South Augusta Headquarters, and his presence underscores the vital role of community partnerships in driving sustainable development and fostering economic empowerment,” according to the GABCC.

This is an opportunity to shop locally for freshly harvested local produce grown within a few miles from the South Augusta Farmers Market and meet the farmers who tend the crops and steward the land.

Fruits, vegetables, farm-raised eggs, honey, and other locally produced products will be available.

The event is supported by the Augusta Housing and Development Authority and promoted by the Greater Augusta Black Chamber of Commerce.

It’s farm to your table!
