Tonight’s Unique Business Event

Businesses that are members of the North Augusta Chamber of Commerce are invited to stop by the organization’s Third Thursday booth on October 16.

North Augusta Forward stages its Third Thursday event each month. It is designed to highlight the unique local businesses in the city.

This month, the chamber will partner with SRS Community Reuse Organization (SRSCRO) for a member mixer, pop-up shop, and speed networking to help members understand and access, benefits they have through the chamber.

“A lot of times they are so active in their business, they don’t remember the benefits of being a part of the chamber,” Terra Carroll, President and CEO of the North Augusta Chamber, explained for ABD. “We’re going to have some fun games, just to help teach them about here’s how you use your chamber membership, whether it’s logging on to the computer and adding events to the calendar or sending stuff in for the newsletter.”

Carroll added that many of their members are home-based or not in the downtown area, and this program is an opportunity to give them exposure during a popular event.

The chamber’s activities will be set up at the SRSCRO office at 520 Georgia Avenue.

“CRO is partnering with us to use their space, shows off their space, and also gives us a chance to meet the community and showcase some of our chamber member businesses,” Carroll said.

She added that the collaboration between the two organizations is a natural marriage of their shared goals.

“I serve on the board of directors with CRO, some of our committees, too, with our workforce development,” she said. “They were developed mostly working with the Savannah River Site and keeping jobs and expanding services, and quality of life for employees out at the Savannah River Site. But it has expanded outside of the gates of Savannah River Site, and all of the chambers in our area are part of that board of directors. So, it’s a great way for all of us, chambers and economic development, to collaborate to make our region better.”

Some of the chamber’s activities will be inside the SRSCRO building and only for businesses that are current members. However, they will also staff a booth outside so businesses that aren’t members, and the public, can learn more about how the chamber supports businesses and the North Augusta economy.

“On the outside, we’ll have all the tables out there. We’ll have chamber information, and we’ll just share as folks are coming through, and just say, ‘here’s who we are and what we do,’ because so many people still don’t know what the chamber is all about. Hopefully, it’ll get that exposure that we’ve been missing,” said Carroll.

Third Thursday this month will also be in the Upbeat Concert Series. Several businesses will host musical performances.

The event runs 5-8 p.m. Participating businesses and booths will be set up along Georgia Avenue and West Avenue.
